Our Responsibilities A business in transformation
With changes in our ownership and status as a Limited Company, we have found ways to restructure that will allow growth and diversification.
We are transforming as a business to reflect two changes in the way we operate.
First, we have become more cost effective. To help win our third licence to operate in 2007 we pledged to reduce our operating costs – already among the lowest in the world – from around 5% to around 4% of revenue. The changes made to meet this pledge have been challenging, but the result was a greater flow of money to good causes, and a renewed licence.
Second, we have restructured, creating new businesses that will allow us to expand our markets and our range of products and services, in the UK and internationally. This change reflects our new ownership and our change from a plc to a Limited Company, and creates the opportunity to diversify while continuing to provide excellent service to our core business, The National Lottery.
Our new structure
Our new specialist subsidiary companies are designed to harness the skills, expertise and reputation we have developed as a leading lottery operator for the global market.
As of April 2011, every Camelot employee moved into one of the following companies:
• Camelot UK Lotteries Limited: the regulated company that operates the core UK National Lottery business
• Camelot Global Services Limited: provides consultancy and private management services to lotteries worldwide
• Camelot Commercial Services Limited: develops innovative commercial services like mobile phone top-ups and bill payments
• Camelot Strategic Solutions Limited: develops and delivers programmes and project-management support for the group of companies
