Our Responsibilities Overseas play
Gaming laws vary widely across the world, and as a responsible lottery operator we comply fully with all local regulations. In many countries it is unlawful for anyone to purchase a lottery ticket or receive a prize from an overseas lottery.
We do not promote The National Lottery outside the UK and the Isle of Man. However, some of our games are accessible online, and we now provide a wide range of advice about playing from overseas. We remind all our online players that they should only play in a country where it is lawful to do so, and we have introduced a number of safeguards to protect overseas online players:
- Every time players sign into their accounts, set up a direct debit or buy tickets, they are advised to buy tickets only when they are in the UK or the Isle of Man.
- A warning page appears on the site if it detects the possibility of a player signing in from abroad.
- New terms and conditions, introduced this year, state where players can buy their tickets or amend their direct debit accounts.
