Our Responsibilities Corporate responsibility governance

Running a transparent and trusted lottery business requires the highest standards of corporate governance, and a culture of corporate responsibility extending into every part of our operations.

The following diagram illustrates our corporate governance structure:

The Main Board is ultimately accountable for our corporate responsibility strategy, closely supported by a number of formal Board committees, advisory groups and stakeholder panels.

The Corporate Responsibility Board (CRB) is chaired by our Chief Executive and ensures that corporate responsibility is at the heart of the business. Its members are senior directors from all our main business units including Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations & Corporate Affairs.

The Advisory Panel for Corporate Responsibility is made up of independent external specialists who have professional expertise in areas of stakeholder concern. They challenge our approach and advise us on how to improve our practice. It is chaired by Gerry Acher, Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of Camelot, and its members in 2010/11 were:

  • Players and winners: Sir Robert Worcester, Founder of MORI
Employees: Valerie Hammond, Chair of Roffey Park Institute
Local communities: David Grayson, Director of The Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility, Cranfield University
Public interest groups: Andy McLellan, CEO of GamCare
Suppliers and partners: Mark Goyder, Founder Director of Tomorrow’s Company
    Environment: Hugh Somerville, independent consultant
Retailers: Mahendra Jadeja, Past National President of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents.

Issue Management Groups are set up to address specific stakeholder concerns and include the Player Protection Panel (PPP), which oversees our commitment to protect vulnerable people from irresponsible use of our products and provides guidance on continuous improvement in the field of responsible play.
