Games and Financial Accounting is made up of two teams: Gaming and Compliance and Financial Accounting

Gaming and Compliance

We are not your typical Gaming and Compliance team because you won't find any 'boring accountants' here.

Although what we do is quite serious, it's not all work and no play. We definitely don’t like to think of ourselves as your typical ‘boring’ accountants!

The team is made up of the Gaming & Compliance Manager, Senior Gaming Accountant, Finance Processes and Controls Executive and Finance Trainees (who rotate between the two departments).

In operating The National Lottery, Camelot gives on average, £30million to Good Causes every week and it's our job to prepare the calculation for that payment every Monday. We also advise the Trustee on the trust transfers each trading week as well as support Camelot on the accounting process and trust compliance for gaming activity. The Gaming and Compliance Team ensures Camelot operates its games within the boundaries of the Trust Deed and the licence requirements. Being such a regulated environment, attention to detail is essential to be successful in this role as there is no margin for error. 

As a team, we get to work with all areas of the business:

  • Internally – we offer commercial support on new games and new gaming activity. We advise on financial reporting and we work with the wider financial team, advising on accounting queries that sit in our area. 

  • Externally – we work closely with the Gambling Commission, the Trustee and we are audited every month as well as at year end.  

  • Our players – we also advise in the trust transfers which helps to protect players' money.

Our team is made up of qualified accountants or people training to become qualified accountants. To be successful in this team you need to have high accuracy and close attention to detail. Our daily, weekly, monthly, biannual and annual reporting requirements keep us on our toes so being deadline driven helps too.  



Financial Accounting

We’re not your typical Financial Accounting team because we know how to have a good time!

We are an integral team within the Finance department at Camelot.  We are primarily focused on monthly management reporting, preparation and management of the IFRS compliant audited financial statements and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the numbers we are reporting are reliable and useful for key decision makers within the Group and our shareholder.

The team consists of a qualified Financial Accounting Manager, a Senior Financial Accountant and a trainee who is studying towards an accounting qualification.

To be successful in our team you need to be a motivated team player, use your initiative to make a difference, have a willingness to learn, be a good communicator and a love for excel would be advantageous!

We work really well together but we also enjoy a good chat and a laugh.  We welcome new starters, whether it be experienced Financial Accountants or someone looking for their first role within a finance team as we can support you with your career development...except perhaps if you want to become an astronaut! We're a social bunch, we love a good team night out and enjoy getting involved in the many events organised by the wider finance team.
