07, Putting responsibility first

Welcome to Camelot’s Corporate Responsibility Report 2007

This report tells you how we go about the business of running The National Lottery, and what we do to make sure we raise as much money as we can for Good Causes in an efficient and socially responsible way. It also allows you to check how well we have done in meeting the commitments we made a year ago, and the new targets we’ve set ourselves for 2007/08.

In particular, the report highlights the importance we place on involving all the people we depend on for our success, from public interest groups and employees to our retailers, suppliers, shareholders and, of course, the players and winners themselves.

Our priorities for 2007/08

Responsible play

The success of The National Lottery depends on our continued ability to understand and meet the needs of players while protecting the vulnerable.

Our people & communities

Our commitment to giving something back to the community is one of the reasons we’re rated among the top employers in the UK.

Business relationships

We need strong and trusting relationships with our retailers, suppliers and shareholders to run a successful National Lottery.

Environmental impact

As the first major lottery operator in the world to become carbon neutral, we’re demonstrating the role we can play in tackling climate change and reducing waste.

Where the money goes

£20bn

raised for Good Causes and 2,000 millionaires created since The National Lottery was created.

81%

of staff believe Camelot is one of the best companies they’ve worked for.

A world leader in player protection

Through the work we have done with international gaming organisations, we are leading the development of online player protection and global responsible gambling standards. We’re also encouraging other lotteries throughout the world to follow our example.
