Managing impacts

We improved the way we manage our impact on the environment.

Energy & climate

We saw a rise in our gas and electricity use last year. From October 2006 we will have a new energy contract that will mean we use only renewable electricity.

The Green Team

Everyone in Camelot has a part to play in saving energy, recycling and cutting pollution and we run regular campaigns on these issues.

We are committed to careful environmental management. Given the sector in which we operate and because we are a relatively small, specialist company, Camelot does not have a big impact on the environment. But we still have a part to play in protecting the environment, including tackling climate change and reducing waste.

The next year will see us become the world's first carbon neutral lottery operator and we are also aiming to cut our CO2 emissions by 15% through using only renewable electricity, by saving energy and continuing to use more fuel–efficient diesel cars.

We are also stepping up our campaigns to cut waste and recycle more. All lottery tickets are now printed on recycled paper. Printing play slips on recycled stock is also still a possibility for the future.
