Camelot’s core UK lottery operation is unique. A business like no other, we manage a high-profile, much-loved national institution for the public good – with the overall aim of maximising returns to society in a responsible way.

Operated by Camelot, The National Lottery is one of the UK’s leading consumer brands – around 70% of UK adults play regularly, over 4 million people win prizes every week and annual sales are over £5 billion.

In the last 17 years, The National Lottery has created over 2,800 millionaires and generated more than £27 billion for the Good Causes – that’s around £30 million raised each and every week.

The National Lottery is contributing £2.2 billion towards staging the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games – the largest sum from a single organisation and the biggest ever lottery-funded project to date – which will leave a lasting sporting legacy for the entire UK.

Under Camelot’s stewardship, the number of UK players has grown by over 5% in the last five years alone – while total National Lottery sales have increased by 20.4% since the start of the second lottery Licence in 2002.

This has culminated in the highest ever sales results for the 2010/11 financial year – at a time when sales at most lotteries worldwide are static or in decline.

As a responsible operator, Camelot is also charged with a duty of care to its players and winners, and with maintaining public trust and confidence in The National Lottery.
