Camelot is committed to maximising returns to Good Causes by operating The National Lottery in a socially responsible way.
Camelot's strategy is focused on two main themes: diversifying the National Lottery game portfolio and improving access to lottery games through new channels of distribution. This focus on innovation and Camelot's strategy for growth has resulted in an 11.6% increase in sales over the last five years.
In the year to 31 March 2009, Camelot increased total National Lottery sales to £5,149.1 million, an increase of £182.8 million on the previous year’s figure of £4,966.3 million.
This positive sales performance has continued with Camelot announcing that it has succeeded in growing National Lottery ticket sales in the first six months of the 2009/10 financial year. In the Half-Year to 26 September 2009, Camelot grew total ticket sales across the portfolio of National Lottery games to £2,628.6 million, an increase of £68.9 million (2.7%) on the corresponding period last year. The rise in sales helped to drive direct returns to the Good Causes over the Half-Year up from £689.2 million to £757.2 million, an increase of £68.0 million over the same period last year.
So far, National Lottery players have helped to raise over £24 billion for the Good Causes, with more than 330,000 individual awards made across the UK – the equivalent of 113 lottery grants for every postcode district.
